May 19th Class Newsflash

Monday, May 19, 2025

I cannot believe that tomorrow is the last day of school. Where did the time go?!!! I want to give a ginormous THANK YOU to the Weiss Family for hosting our 6th grade/ end of year celebration and also sponsoring the lifeguard and pizza lunch. It was extremely special and fun! Also, a big thank you to all the parents who helped drive students to and from the party, and contributed with snacks, drinks, desserts for the party.

I also want to give a big thank you to parents who really stepped up and helped our class this year in either generous donations,  volunteering your time to present, chaperoning fieldtrips and overnights, and just providing a community of support for both Ms. Shawn and me throughout this school year. Honestly, it does take a village to raise a child and knowing that we are all on the same team supporting one another is what matters most. So, thank you!!!!

Class Happenings

Students presented their last animal research projects and their favorite writing samples from this school year. The class also did some deep cleaning and cleared out their cubbies today, so your child should have come home with a bag of all their class notebooks, and items. We spent this afternoon doing a few community building games.

Tomorrow will be a fun day, we will hand out class awards, have a farewell ceremony to one of our student's and our 6th graders, and enjoy the talent show.

Summer Homework

Today, summer homework was passed out, 4th and 5th graders got their summer homework from me and 6th graders received theirs from the middle school. Make sure to review the expectations with your student. Here is a live link to the reading list that student’s should pick a book from to do ONE project on, https://k-12readinglist.com/reading-lists-for-elementary-school-children/

Please make sure to look in your child's folder with the different letters and expectations for homework this summer.

Talent Show

E2 talent show will be held tomorrow from 9-10:30am

Early Dismissal

Tomorrow is early dismissal for the last day of school at 11:30am. Please make sure if your child had not already taken their bag of class notebooks, items, etc. home today, that they bring it home tomorrow.

Lost and Found

Make sure to remind your student to check the lost and found for any missing items. All left over items in the lost and found will be donated.

This is my last Newsflash for this School Year!! Have a beautiful and blessed summer full of fun, relaxation and family time!!!

We have a few students that are passionate about wanting to help the hungry. They are really wanting to set a goal of reaching about 1000 canned goods before the school year ends. All they are hoping for is that each student bring in about 2+ canned food to help their cause. A flyer will be going home to help support these kids and there will be boxes in carline and by the classrooms to drop off the canned goods.

Class Happenings

Today was preview day for 3rd & 6th graders and everything went smoothly. The 4th and 5th graders did an amazing job of stepping up and leading the class with mini lessons for the upcoming 4ths. The 6ths seemed to have had a great time shadowing at the middle school and came back to campus with all smiles. 6th graders will be taking their middle school math placement test on Thursday morning with Ms. Clare, so please make sure they come well rested and feeling prepared.

On another note, the kids did such an amazing job with their 13 colonies presentations. They took the time to work well with their partner in creating a well-developed project and composed presentation with yummy dishes. The class is also working on opinion writing pieces and descriptive writing samples. In math and geometry, students are learning about the sum of internal and external angles of different polygons along with reviewing math topics related to fractions/decimals. In grammar, students are focusing on developing complex sentences using different types of adjective and adverbs within their sentence structures while 6th graders are diagramming sentences using previous sentence analysis knowledge. Although the end of the school year is rapidly approaching, students are still focusing on their studies.

Tax Credit

Please read below for info from Athena in regard to tax credit information.

Support Villa Students with the Public-School Tax Credit

Dear Parents,

I would like to remind you of a fantastic opportunity to support our Villa students through Arizona’s Public School Tax Credit program. If you haven’t yet contributed the maximum amount of $400 (for couples filing jointly) or $200 (for individuals), there is still time to do so before the April 15 deadline. When you donate $400, you will receive $400 back on your taxes as a credit or refund. It’s a win for both you and Villa!

Your tax credit donation directly enriches our students’ experiences by supporting important programs such as:

- Art and ceramics

- Gardening

- Drama and character education

- Athletic equipment and activities

These programs are vital for our students’ growth, and your generosity makes them possible.

Click here to donate now and make a difference in your child's education.

Thank you!

This is all I have for now! Have a beautiful and blessed rest of the week!!!!
