State Assessments

Required State Assessments:

AASA (ELA and Math) - Grades 3-8

AzSCI (Science) - Grades 5 AND 8

We ask that you please make an effort to have your child here on time during the testing window. Students should be present and prepared for these upcoming assessments.

AASA - Testing Window: April 1 - April 26, 2024

Writing must be completed by April 12, 2023

Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment - AASA is the statewide achievement test for Arizona students in Grades 3-8. All Arizona public school students in Grades 3 - 8 will take the grade-level AASA assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

  • ELA consists of one Writing and two Reading tests.
  • The Writing test takes approximately 60-90 minutes.
  • The Reading test is administered in two sessions of 45-75 minutes each.
  • Math consists of two test sessions of 60-85 minutes each.
  • ORF is for 3rd grade only

AzSCI - Testing Window: March 18 - April 12, 2024

AzSCI, Arizona's statewide achievement test for Science, is administered to students in Grades 5 and 8. This assessment covers the 27 essential standards in Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, and Life Science.

The most important thing you can do for your child during testing is make sure they come to school on the days they have tests. Making up a missed test means time out of class and losing necessary learning time that cannot be made up. In addition to attendance, your child will do their best on the tests if they:

  • Get to bed early the night before to be well-rested on the day of the test
  • Have a good breakfast on the morning of the test
  • Come to school on time
  • Be adequately hydrated

We understand that some schedules may interfere with this testing schedule, and we apologize for getting this communication out later than intended. If you know your child will not be available to take the test during the outlined dates, please speak with the appropriate program-level director to make accommodations. The state timeline does not allow for much flexibility, so it is important that all children take the test during their scheduled time.

Testing makeups will be ongoing, as needed, throughout the testing window.

Thank you for supporting your child and our school during this testing period.
