Thank you to parent volunteer, Skye Lucking, for coming in last Monday and giving the class an Art Masterpiece lesson. We learned about Romero Britto and the students made pop art inspired works.
Homework: Students were given their new homework packets. Lesson 41 was due today. Students should continue to read 20 minutes a night and do one math lesson a night.
Art History Fair: The next due date is Monday, December 8th. The Artist Questionnaire and Rough Sketch of the art project is due.
Cookie Making and Decorating: We will be making and decorating cookies in class this month. Wednesday, Dec. 17th we will be baking the cookies and on Thursday, Dec. 18th we will be decorating the cookies. Each student will take home around 5 cookies. Barter Day: Tomorrow Tuesday, November 25th E2 will be doing a Barter Day in the afternoon. Students may bring in a pillowcase full of items that they would like to barter/trade. We ask that all items be school appropriate, any games or movies should be rated G or PG, and all items should be approved by parents to be bartered. No toy weapons, trading cards, food items, or money should be brought to barter.
No School Wednesday, November 26th- Friday, November 28th for Thanksgiving Break.
Homework: Students received their new Math Homework packets last week, the first lesson will be due Monday, December 1st. There will be no math homework due this week, students should continue to read 20 minutes a night.
Students should also be working on their Art History Fair Projects. Students should be working on the Artist Questionnaire and figuring out what they will be doing as an art project.
No Spelling this week. We will continue spelling practice and High Frequency Spelling Word tests next week.

Thank you to all drivers/chaperones for our field trip last week to the Phoenix Art Museum, it was a great field trip!

Safety Drills: We will be practicing a Shelter in Place safety drill today.
Art History Fair: Students should have their Signature Page turned in by today and have chosen which artist they will be researching. Students should now be finding resources about their artist including books and online resources. They should be working on the Artist Questionnaire worksheet and figuring out what they would like to do for their art project.
Homework: Students received Math Homework Review packets last week, the first review lesson was due today. Students will be getting their new homework packets this Friday.
We will also continue spelling practice and High Frequency Spelling Word tests this week.
PTO Gratitude Breakfast: Join us this Thursday, November 20th for some sunshine and socialization! Bring your own breakfast, and the PTO will provide the hot cocoa. The event will take place from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. on the E2 courtyard, next to the swings.
Overnight Chaperones: If you would like to be a chaperone for our overnight this year to Astro Camp on May 6-8, 2026 you need to have the form filled out by this Friday, November 21st. Field Trip: We will be having our next field trip to the Phoenix Art Museum this Thursday, November 13th. We will be leaving school around 9:15 am and returning around 1 pm. We will be having a picnic lunch at the museum, students will need to bring a sack lunch.

Art History Fair: The packets for the Art History Fair are being sent home this week. Please review the packet with your student and the requirements for the project. The first due date is Monday, November 17th the Signature Page is due.
Mark your calendars our class Art History Fair will be on Tuesday, March 3rd from 10 am -11 am. Parents and families are invited to come and attend the fair at this time.
6th Grade Parents: There will be a Middle School Information Night this Thursday, November 6th from 6-8:30 pm at the middle school campus. The presentation is to inform the 6th grade parents of the middle school program and what to expect for next year.

Vision and Hearing Screenings: All 5th grade students and students who get special services will be doing a hearing and vision screening tomorrow Tuesday, October 22nd. If your student wears glasses, please make sure they bring them and wear them tomorrow.
This Friday, October 24th will be a Half-Day for the whole school, no afternoon circle. School will be out at 11:30 am, for staff professional development.
Trunk or Treat: This Saturday, October 25th will be Villa’s Trunk or Treat at the Elementary Field.
Each campus will have a designated walk-through time as follows:
4:00 - 4:45 PM - ECC (Infants, Toddlers, Primary, Kindergarten),
5:00 - 5:45 PM - Elementary I (1st - 3rd grade)
6:00 - 6:45 PM - Elementary II and Middle School (4th - 8th grade)
If your family has students in different program levels, please choose one walk-through time to attend.
There is limited parking available for this event; please park at ECC or Elementary Campus parking lots and enter through the Elementary Carline gates (look for signs).
We can’t wait to celebrate! Don’t forget to wear a costume!!

Overnight Chaperones: Our class will be going to Astro Camp, May 6-8, 2026 for our overnight trip this year! We are looking for adult chaperones to join us on this exciting and educational trip. As a classroom parent/guardian you should have a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card and agree with the chaperone expectations. Chaperones will be required to pay a cost of $473.00, due in February 2026.
To be considered for the chaperone role, you will need to complete this form by Friday, November 21. We will enter all eligible names into a lottery on January 8, 2026. The lottery will be conducted during the weekly teacher meeting with Elementary Director, Christy Cantu. If you do not have a fingerprint clearance card by December 19, you will not be eligible for the lottery.

Pajama Day: This Friday, October 3rd will be our first Pajama Day. On Pajama Days students are allowed to wear their pajamas to school and bring in one blanket and/or pillow. They also are allowed to bring in any school appropriate games, books, or movies. Movies should be age and school appropriate and rated G or PG. Students need to have all of their weekly work completed to participate in Pajama Day activities.
Homework: Students should be finishing their math homework packets by the end of this week; Lesson 20 is due this Friday. We will be handing out review packets on Friday as well.
We will not be doing spelling practice or tests this week, we will continue spelling after Fall break.
Next week is Fall Break, October 6th-10th. School resumes on Monday, October 13th and Review Lesson 1 will be due along with 20 minutes of reading.

It was great seeing everyone at the Class Social this weekend. Thank you again to the Smith/Brieske family for hosting!
Math Tests: Now that students have started their math packets, we have started taking weekly math tests. We take math tests on Monday mornings, and they go over the last 4/5 lessons from the previous week.
We will grade math tests in class, make corrections with the students if needed (if they score lower than 70%) and send home the tests in the students’ communication folders by the end of the week or following week.
To help students be successful you can remind them to study the concepts in their homework packets over the weekend.
Goal Setting Conferences: We are continuing Goal Setting Conferences this week. This Friday, September 26th is another Half-Day school will be out at 11:30 am.
Conferences will be held inside the classroom if before school or after school or in the front of the classroom during the morning times. Homework: Students received new homework packets on Friday. Students should do one lesson per night. Please continue to check and initial your student’s math homework.
We will be starting Math Tests on Monday mornings based on the homework tests start next Monday, September 15th. To help your student be successful you can have them review the previous 4 lessons over the weekend. For example, the first test will be going over the concepts learned in Lessons 1-4.
Field Trip: We will be going to the Arizona Science Center tomorrow Tuesday, September 9th. This will be a full day field trip, please make sure your student arrives on time, brings a sack lunch and good walking shoes. Students may bring money to purchase something at the gift shop but are responsible for keeping track of it on their own.

Safety Week: This week is Safety Week we will be going over the different drills and practicing an off-site evacuation. A permission slip was sent home last week for your student to walk off campus, please turn it in by this Wednesday, September 10th. We will be doing the evacuation Thursday morning, September 11th.

Pizza Friday: Pizza Friday forms are due today Monday, August 25th. The first Pizza Friday will be this Friday, August 29th! We will be getting our pizza from Barros this year.

Lost and Found: The last week of every month we will do a Lost and Found viewing in the carline area. All things left in Lost and Found at the end of the day on Friday, August 29th will be donated. Please make sure to check and have your student check the Lost and Found for any items this week.
Homework: Students should continue to do one math lesson and read 20 minutes a night for homework. They should also be practicing their High Frequency Spelling words as well. Each student will get their updated list in their take home folders, students who completed all 1200 words are no longer tested.

Homework: Students should be working on their Rev-Up math packet doing one lesson each night. They should also be reading 20 minutes a night and fill out the reading log.
Spelling Practice: Students have started their spelling practice in class. They will either be using the Words Their Way program that helps with spelling rules, or Wordly Wise which is more vocabulary based. Students will not be tested on these programs.
Students will be tested every Friday on the High Frequency Spelling words. Your student will get a list of words on Mondays (today) in their Communication Folder that they should practice for the week and then will be tested in class on Fridays. Students will do 25 words and/or circled words on their list. Once the students complete the 1200 High Frequency packet they will no longer be tested on Fridays for spelling. We will begin testing this Friday, August 22nd on their High Frequency words, the list of words they are being tested on is their communication folder. If they do not have a list, they have tested out of the program and will not need to take a spelling test. Ways to help your student practice their words at home is also in their communication folder.
Pizza Fridays: We will be starting Pizza Fridays on Friday, August 29th. The class has decided to get pizza from Barros. Forms to sign-up were in the Parent Orientation packet. A couple of reminders:
Vision Board Activity: This Wednesday, August 6th the students will be doing a vision board activity that goes along with their goals for this school year. We will provide materials for the activity but if your student wants to bring in any special pictures, stickers, quotes or magazines they may.
Parent Orientation: We will be having our Parent Orientation night this Thursday, August 7th at 6:30 pm in the classroom, Room 212. We ask that at least one parent attends the orientation, if you are unable to attend, we will send home your Parent Orientation packet in your student’s communication folder on Friday.
Homework: Summer Homework should be turned in this week, students will be getting their first homework packet which is review work this Friday, August 8th. A calendar for homework due dates will also be set home or you can find a copy under the tab Homework Calendar.

Open House: We are having an Open House this Friday, August 1st from 11am-12 pm in our room, room 212, for students and families to check out the classroom, say hello to the teachers, and drop off supplies. We hope to see you there!
Summer Homework: Students should be completing their summer homework and have it turned it by the first week of school. Students will be presenting their book reports the first week to the class. If you need an extra copy of the homework you can click on the Summer Homework tab and find copies, there.

Pajama Day: Today Monday, May 19th is our last Pajama Day of the year students are allowed to wear their pajamas and bring in school appropriate games and movies.
Summer Homework: 4th and 5th graders got their summer homework from me, and 6th graders are getting theirs today from the middle school. Make sure to review the expectations with your student. Class Fish: At the end of the year, our class fish are plentiful, and I always give the option to anyone who wants some fish can take them home to keep. If you are okay with your student taking some fish home please send in a note with permission or email me. Just specify how many and what day you would like them.
Lost and Found: Make sure to remind your student to check the lost and found for any missing items. All left over items in the lost and found will be donated.
Last Day: The last day of school is tomorrow Tuesday, May 20th. It will be a Half-Day and school will be out at 11:30 am.
Students who signed-up will be performing in the student led talent show tomorrow between 9-10:30 am.
