Bi-Weekly Parent Updates

April 14

It's hard to believe we only have 5.5 weeks left of school! A lot is happening so I'll jump in. As always, this will be uploaded to the website if you need to refer back. Check out the Villa Voice for info on donating your eclipse glasses, the elementary art show, and more!

  • Please Sign Up to help your child showcase foods from their area of study or something they may have a personal connection with that represents a food of Australia.

Field Trip
  • Our class was featured in the weekly Villa email - check out the pics of our trip to S'edav Va'aki Museum (formerly Pueblo Grande Museum). We had a great time.
  • Next field trip is coming up on May 9 to the Herberger Theatre. Make a note to wear the class t-shirt that day! Parking will be limited so we are preferring drivers with larger vehicles with more seating. Email Lisa if you want to drive.

Auction
  • We are doing a basket for the Villa Auction this year. The theme is Garden Picnic Party. We are asking parents to purchase items for the basket.
  • I made an Amazon Wish List - https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/j9Vb4DV?ref_=wl_share
    • The list is public so you can add something to the list if you find things out of stock or something else to replace. We are open to suggestions and ideas for items!
    • Let me know if you have any issues. It's my first Amazon Wish List!
  • Through the list, it should be set to send items to the school, care of Lisa, but you can drop them off yourself too. Just make sure everything is in her hands by Friday, April 5!

March 3

This is our last week before Spring Break and we have a few things to go over.

  • Monday - Australia study
    • Students will be picking their topics tomorrow, Monday, for the Australia continent study. Due to the smaller number of countries on the Australian plate, 3rd graders will be allowed to choose landmarks and territories, instead of just countries. They will have the first pick. 1st grade will be animals. Get ready to learn about the most horrific spiders and snakes!
    • Presentations will begin April 23
    • The class luncheon will be Thursday, May 2. Mark your calendars!
  • Wednesday - Blue Watermelon
    • One of the class parents will be coming to the classroom on Wednesday as a part of the Blue Watermelon school program that brings farm-to-table concepts. They will give a presentation, and cook and plant with the kids.
  • Thursday/Friday - Catch-up days
    • This Thursday and Friday marks the end of this quarter and the students can work on anything they didn't finish. They will also have chicken strips, fries, and ketchup as a special treat instead of Pizza Friday. Get it? Ketchup? Catch-up? Heehee.
  • 3rd Grade testing dates have been announced and will be starting in April.
  • Field trips
    • The kids had a great time at the field trip this past week. I personally feel like I better understand how electricity works! If anyone has pictures they want to share, we could post to the website.
    • The next field trip will be the first or second week of April and will be announced soon.
  • Class donation
    • Lisa has set up a Donors Choose site to build the class's library of biography books on "Influential people in history who fought against the odds to pursue what they loved." Any amount is appreciated to go towards these great resources. Read more here.
  • Safety week went great with many drills but a few more will be happening in coming weeks.
  • Lastly, Lisa will be virtually attending the annual American Montessori Society conference next weekend to continue her own learning and education!

Important Dates:

March 11 to 15- Spring break, school closed except for circle and infants/toddlers

March 23- PTO family movie night

March 30- Middle School Spring Farmers Market

April 13- Villa annual auction dinner

May 3- Early release at 11:30 for parent/teacher conferences. Circle can stay.

Feb 25

This week is Spirit Week (and Anti-Bullying Week and Safety Week all in one!) so we have some special dressing up options and other activities to remember:
  • Monday: Mismatch day
  • Tuesday: Crazy sock day and the field trip
    • Make sure to send your child in their class t-shirt for the field trip and return permission forms
  • Wednesday: Pink shirt day, a school picnic, and evacuation practice
    • FYI for the evacuation practice, it will be more of a walk-through than a drill. They won't be pretending it is an actual situation, there will be no alarm, and they will not practice reunification. Instead they will leave campus and find out where their evacuation spot is and what they do. Essentially, it will be just like a fire drill but off campus where they walk out as a group, take attendance, walk back to class and do a Q&A debrief.
  • Thursday: Fancy pants day and games day
    • The kids get an hour of game time where they can play board games. They may bring one game to share if they would like - but no electronics
  • Friday: Dance party during PE.
Additionally, throughout the week they will practice all sorts of safety rules and drills, including some that they don't normally see in Arizona but that the kids might hear about if they know kids in other states. Lisa will try to make it fun while tying it to other learning in the classroom primarily, cultures and biomes.

Check out the weekly Villa email for all school updates, including Summer School info and the Week of Giving, and please check our Volunteer page for openings.

We have a fairly busy month with different events going on. Check out the weekly Villa Voice for school-wide updates, and please check our Volunteer page for openings. We appreciate your help making our class successful. As always, this info will be uploaded to our class website

Classroom studies
  • Continent Study
    • The kids have been learning about the next continent - Australia. Topics for the presentation will be picked later in March, and presentation days will be announced once the 3rd Grade testing schedule is given to Lisa.
  • The class has also been continuing their study of biomes, including animals, land and water forms.

Feb 14 - Valentine's Day
  • On Valentine's Day, the kids are invited to participate in a card exchange. Lisa sent home a class list on Friday in the communication folder. Please have your child write the names of each classmate on a card, and sign from themselves. The kids can bring a box or bag from home as a mailbox - feel free to decorate - or Lisa will have a few bags available if you forget! In the afternoon they will put the mailboxes/bags in alphabetical order and deliver their cards.
  • This is optional. If your child doesn't want to give cards, they will still get cards from other classmates.
Feb 15 - Liberty Wildlife
  • Liberty Wildlife is coming to give a presentation to the class with their rescue birds.
  • Lisa's class slot is 8:30 so be on time that day or your child will miss it!
Feb. 26 Week - Anti-Bullying and Safety Week
  • The week of Feb. 26 is both anti-bullying and safety week in the school.
  • Topics for the anti-bully week will include encouragement to be an 'upstander,' not just a 'bystander' if bullying is seen.
  • Feb. 28 is Pink Shirt Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear a pink shirt.
  • The class will be doing safety drills on topics like street crossing throughout the week.
Feb. 27 - Field Trip
  • Also that week is our next field trip - Feb 27 to the Earth and Space Experience Center in North Phoenix.
  • They will be leaving the school at 8:45.
  • If you want to be a driver, please email Lisa ASAP. There are limited tickets available for parent chaperones so we will only be accepting as many parent chaperones as needed to shuttle the kids. If you haven't had a chance to drive and have your fingerprint clearance done, we will try to give you a chance but it is first come first serve.

January 6

Hi fellow parents!

I hope you all had a good holiday break. I've attached a photo of Lisa and Ariana with a few little gifts from the group prior to the holidays. We are so lucky to have such great teachers!

As we jump back in, here are a few reminders and notes of interest.

Classroom Reminders:

  • Lisa is reminding us to make sure our children are on time. It is hard to get back in the swing of getting up every day, but the kids miss a crucial part of the day when they are not here on time.
  • The kids should not be bringing toys to school. Some of them have been trying to bring toys to the playground, and not only does the school not allow that, but the toys could get lost or damaged.
  • Our class has been very fortunate that no lice came back from vacation but there are other classrooms who still have lice, so please be diligent – remind your child to not share hair items, tie their hair up or use hair gel/hair spray (lice like nice clean hair), and watch for those little bugs!

Sign-Ups

  • If you haven’t already, sign up for the January conferences here.
  • We need laundry help starting in March, and Pizza Delivery for Feb 2, March 8,22, April 5,12
  • I had the opportunity to take two kids pizza shopping this week and if you haven’t yet, I highly recommend it. It’s so cute watching them take charge of the shopping at Sprouts. They pick the food items and carefully write down prices before they go, so all you need to do is drive and support them. In total, it took about 20 mins of my day. There are a few more openings here. We also have a few more openings for your child to be the one in charge of the shopping experience. If your child hasn’t yet or wants one more crack at it, sign up here.

From Lisa:

  • Our garden is looking bountiful. We had a full salad today for Pizza Friday and it looks like we will be able to utilize the veggies for some time to come.
  • The children have been retested on the spelling words they have mastered so far this year. A few of those words need to be revisited so, you may recognize some of the words on your child’s spelling list
  • I look forward to seeing everyone over the next couple of weeks.

From the school:

  • On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, we will be presenting a workshop from 6:30 – 7:30 pm on ways to help support your child’s emerging reading skills at home. Megan McGovern (Elementary I teacher), Leah Rogelcheck (Elementary I reading interventionist) and I will share strategies and techniques for working with your budding readers. This is primarily for parents of students who are not yet proficient readers. Please RSVP here!
  • Fun Run - The Villa PTO Annual Fun Run will take place on January 27, 2024 - here at Villa!! Please save the date on your new 2024 calendar. We look forward to a fun day raising money for our classrooms!

Dec 3

Hi parents and Happy December!

A few things to update you on:

In the classroom

The children have been learning about more advanced life on earth and how we all work together. They are starting with fish & seaweed. During December & January they will be studying winter celebrations of lights around the world.

Health and safety

Our class had some more of the lice that has been going around and around the school a few times. The school (and I’m sure all of us!) would like to stop this cycle. I’ve attached the handout from the school but briefly the handout states: Children will be sent home from school if lice or nits are present – they cannot return to school until all lice/nits are gone. Upon returning to school, they must first be brought to the office to be checked before returning to the classroom.

If you have any questions about this, contact the health aide, Marisol at [email protected].

Volunteer Opps

We have openings for the gingerbread house project (Dec 13/14) for candy decorations, and to help the kids decorate and build the houses. Sign up here.

Here are a few of the other places we need help for volunteers. Check the website to get more details:

Laundry - Jan. 19, 26, and then every week after March 1

Pizza Delivery – Jan. 26, Feb. 2, March 8, 22…….

Pizza Chaperone – Most of the dates in the new year are still open!

There are also some openings in the new year for your child to do Pizza Shopping with a friend.

THEY DON'T NEED SIZES NOW UNTIL LATER.

T-Shirt Sizes for the PTO Fun Run

The PTO has asked us to get T-shirt sizes from all the kids. They have an opportunity to save money on the Fun Run T-shirts if we have our order in early. Please reply to this email with the T-shirt size of your child by Dec. 8 and I’ll pass it along.

Youth S/M/L, or Standard S/M/L/XL/2XL

Support the class

If anyone is looking for an easy way to give to the class, check out our Teachers Pay Teachers link. A little bit goes a long way. On there Lisa can download worksheets and projects for very low costs so even a small donation really helps! It can also be found on our website's Support Our Class page.

Upcoming Dates to Note:

December 13 & 14 – Our class Gingerbread Building

December 18th - January 1st - WINTER BREAK! School Closed except for Circle and Infants/Toddlers

January 2nd - Tuesday - School Resumes

January 12th - Friday - Early Release 11:30 for Parent Teacher Conferences - Circle and Infant can stay

January 15th - Monday - All School Closed for MLK Day

Thanks!

Erika

Nov. 12

Hi fellow parents!

I hope you all had a nice long weekend. We have a fun week coming up with the remainder of the Europe presentations, and the luncheon on Thursday. More detail on the luncheon below but we still need some slots filled – Appetizers/Salads, Entrees, and beverages. Sign up here.

Presentations:

Presentations will be continuing this week. Try to help your child be on time. They are sad when they miss a friend’s presentation. Afternoon presentations begin at 2 pm. It would be appreciated if anyone needs to leave early, they do it by 2 pm so as not to interrupt an ongoing presentation.

Luncheon:

The European Potluck Luncheon will be this Thursday. Join us for the Museum Walk to check out everyone’s projects at 11 am, with the lunch to begin approximately at 11:45 am.

If parents take their children home with them after the luncheon, be sure to have their child let one of the teachers know before they go. It is always scary to not know when someone leaves.

Again, please Sign Up to bring a European food. It can be from the area your child studied or somewhere else on the continent.

Ruby Bridges Walk:

Miss Lisa hopes to see everyone at the Ruby Bridges walk, wearing their purple. Maybe we can walk as a class group. Meet at Los Olivos Park near the Senior Center at 7am.

Intro to E2:

Don’t miss this Intro to E2 on Thursday at 6:30pm for parents of current third graders. This is a parent-only activity so call your babysitters! It’s a great opportunity to learn what your kids will be learning in the next level of Villa Montessori!

Volunteer Opportunities:

The class will be building gingerbread houses December 13 & 14. This year we will be constructing houses on Wednesday afternoon 12/13, allowing them to dry, and decorating on Thursday 12/14. The Sign Up for items needed and volunteer opportunities will be out by 11/15 to give everyone plenty of time to plan.

Check out our Sign Ups on the website. We need volunteers for Laundry, Pizza Delivery, Parent Chaperone for Pizza Shopping in the new year!

The school is asking for one person in each class to be a dedicated Tax Credit Volunteer to help us make a difference for Villa Montessori students. As a Tax Credit Volunteer, you will be encouraging parents from your child’s classroom to contribute to our tax credit program (and get it back when they file taxes), which directly benefits our school and enhances the Montessori experience of our children! Sign Up here if interested.

Hi fellow parents!

I hope you are enjoying the school break and slightly cooler weather. Just a few updates from the school and Miss Lisa.

Garden:

Special thanks to the garden volunteers and the coordinator Rose for the attached pics!

From Lisa:

Thanks to our wonderful garden parents, we have our garden up and growing. The kids had a great time. We have a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers as well as yummy strawberries. Pizza Friday is going to be delicious!!

Our new Art Masterpiece parent, better known as Raya’s Dad, showed the children how to screen print last week. They got to print a Trilobite and are looking forward to more screen-printing projects coming up.

Ketchup (catch-up) Day was a huge success. The kids got caught up on their work before break and are ready to jump in with fresh lessons when we get back. They had a great time and are putting orders in for the next ketchup snack =^) I think we have a new tradition.

With the better weather we will be opening the ODE for more fun/science activities and a chance to work outside more.

The Sign-Up Genius will be available soon for you to sign up for your child’s European Presentation, starting Nov. 6. Plan with your child for a time that will fit into both of your schedules. Try not to wait too long to sign up, spots fill up quickly, especially the last week. The wrap-up potluck luncheon will be Thursday, November 16th.

Sept 23

This week:
  • Don’t forget that Picture Day is Tuesday, Sept. 26
  • Conferences are going this week. When you arrive for your conference, please park in the north parking lot or in the admin parking lot. Parents that park in the north lot should approach the northwest gate (on the E1 side facing the north lot) and provide their name, teacher, and conference time to the staff member on duty. Parents that park in the admin lot should enter the office and the receptionist will check you in. Please refrain from parking in the carline lane between 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Please plan to have a few minutes to provide the needed information prior to your conference time.
Note from Lisa:
  • This week class will begin learning about the Autumn Equinox (September 22) and what is a day/telling time. They’ll also continuing their study of ancient cultures and development of languages.
  • Goal setting conferences are going great. The kids are doing such a good job choosing and sharing their goals for the year. I also appreciate everyone being timely and being able to stay (mostly) on schedule. Also, I am happy to schedule another meeting after conferences are over if anyone has specific concerns they would like to share or talk about.
Continent studies:
  • The class has already begun their study of Europe, which will be the continent topic of this semester’s essay and presentation. The kids were going to pick their topic of Sept. 29, but since it’s a half day, it’s been bumped until Monday, Oct. 2. Prior to that day, have your child pick their top three topics they’d like to study.
  • The topics are a European country for 3rd grade, a city or landmark for 2nd grade, and a European animal for 1st grade.
  • Your child will research, write, and create a 3D model at home. Miss Lisa has gone over this with your child in class, and some of last year’s 3rd graders came back to give a presentation on how to give a presentation.
  • Presentations to the class will begin Nov 6, and will end with potluck lunch on Thursday, Nov 16. Sign Ups for presentations and for the potluck will be sent later.
  • For those new parents in the class, we know presentations can be a little overwhelming. I know I overthought it for that first year! So, we are thinking a Zoom call that parents can log in to ask any questions may be helpful. The plan is in the evening of Oct. 3. We’d love to have a few 2nd and 3rd year parents to join the call and help answer questions and give their perspective. Message me if you want to participate both for information and as someone willing to help answer questions.
Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Thanks to everyone for signing up for our volunteer opportunities! We are pretty set until after the winter break but then we have a lot of empty spots so please sign up again.
  • The one area we need more help is for the Parent Chaperone to go to Sprouts with the kids on the Thursdays before Pizza Friday. It’s a fun opportunity to see the kids figure out what to buy and how much everything costs. We would love to have some regular volunteers who could give the ½ hour of time maybe once a month. Grandparents are also welcomed, assuming they can do the same fingerprinting background check. The weeks that we don’t have someone, Ariana must leave the classroom to chaperone.
  • There is an opening on December 7 for this!
Parents get together:
  • Now that the weather is less oppressive, we thought we could organize a classroom get together at a park for parents and kids. We did it two years ago and it was great to meet some of the other parents and have an extra chance to chat with Miss Lisa. We are thinking either Oct. 21 or 22 at Granada Park from 10-12ish. If you have a preference, please message me back.
All school updates
  • If you missed Margo’s Friday email, don’t forget about the Dine Out at the Vig Arcadia, Genuine, and Campo Italian all month, and the Trunk or Treat on Oct. 28. Parents can sign up to decorate your car.

From Lisa

  • I want to mention how well the kids are doing with the beginning of year assessments. The kids have been focused and working hard to complete them and we are almost done. Yay!!

  • Our new carpet is fully installed, and the room looks great. The kids miss the cool cement on these hot days but agree that the carpet is much better to work on.

  • More information for field trip drivers:  If you have applied for your fingerprint clearance card, be sure to send the confirmation page into the school. While your card may take a month or two to arrive, the school can actually get confirmation of your approval and you will be able to drive for field trips. In addition to that, I have to submit a driver page to the school so they can do that confirmation for each field trip to ensure continued accuracy and safety. Hopefully, this will help with a few of the drivers who are not sure if they can drive. You probably will be able to if we get that confirmation document.

  • We are beginning to think about getting the garden planted soon. Rose Anderson (AKA - Ben’s mom) has generously offered to be the contact person. If you are interested in helping out with the planting, or anything else with the garden, please contact her.

August 19

Hi everyone! I know I said bi-weekly emails but since we are still getting going, I have a few other things to mention and an update from Miss Lisa.

SignUps

All the SignUp links are now on the website - https://www.villamontessori.com/apps/pages/MsLisasClass

We need a lot more volunteers for laundry and pizza shopping chaperones. Laundry is just pretty easy - Laundry will be sent home with your child on your chosen Friday(s) and should be returned on Monday morning. Ideally, your child will help wash, dry, and fold the tablecloths, napkins, and towels as a part of their service to both their home and their classroom.

For pizza chaperone, we need people who have their fingerprint clearance. We’d love a few people who can regularly volunteer for this. It’s pretty fun seeing the kids pick out food and do the math to see how much they can buy. It can be done between 9 and 11 on the Thursdays.

Contact List

I’ll be sending out the approved Parent-to-Parent Contact List to those of you who have signed up for it. If you don’t receive that email, and believe you signed up or wish to be added, please email me!

I also asked yesterday if anyone wants to be added to a text chain and nearly everyone responded, but if you haven’t yet, reply to this email with your cell number. Ground rules for that chain: As much as I love a thumbs up and like of my texts, let’s avoid those so you all don’t get pinged a million times. Those texts will just be quick reminders for things like field trips or crazy sock day etc, and I can’t guarantee I will always remember so always check the website as I’ll keep that as updated as possible!

From Miss Lisa

This has been a busy week and the kids are beginning to get into the rhythm of the day. We have been learning about life coming to Earth and doing some experiments observing mold on different mediums. They are learning how to be scientists by predicting, observing, and recording.

Assessments are well underway, and the kids are actually enjoying doing their beginning of year assessments. Go figure =^)

Our carpet is finally going to be laid this weekend so, the children are very excited to get out of the echo chamber. They said they will miss the coolness of the cement in the afternoon, but we all agreed that our bottoms will be very happy to have a bit more padding.

We have some driver/chaperones signed up for the field trip next month but still need about 8 more seats, 2 or 3 more cars. If you signed up to drive, please email me the # of children you can put in your car so I have a correct count. If you are waiting for your fingerprint card to come through, let me know so I can put you on the maybe list.

August 12 Update

Hi all! I hope your kiddos had a great first week. There are a lot of things to cover so keep reading!

Our Class Website

The new website is partially completed and is up and running. Bookmark it in your browser to check for updates. I'll also send bi-weekly emails but there may be more up-to-date info on the site at times. The link is - https://www.villamontessori.com/apps/pages/MsLisasClass

There is also a Subscribe button that should let you know when there are updates but it isn't working yet so the school is contacting tech support. I'll let you know when I hear back.

Contact List

I've had a few requests for the contact list already from parents so if you haven't signed up yet, please email me back ASAP with your name, phone, and email. This is for parents to invite other parents to birthday parties etc. I will send out a current list soon!

Class T-shirt

Every year the kids make a class t-shirt for wearing on field trips. If you haven't yet, please Venmo the $10 to Miss Lisa at @lisa-moore-8738.

Pizza Friday

We will be starting Pizza Friday in NEXT WEEK! The cost to participate is $145 for the whole year - approx 24 days of pizza. Venmo Miss Lisa at @lisa-moore-8738. We will need volunteers to pick up pizza (from My Slice of the Pie on Indian School and 36th street), and to take the kids shopping on the Thursdays before to get fruit and veggies for the class to prepare and eat. There are SignUps in your inbox from Lisa for those two, and also one to sign your child up to do the pizza shopping.

Volunteer

Speaking of SignUps, you should have gotten FOUR SignUps in total – Pizza Delivery, Pizza Shopping with a Friend, Parent Chaperone for Pizza Shopping (fingerprint clearance needed), and also one for Weekly Laundry. A reminder that the process takes a while to get your fingerprint clearance for off-campus volunteering so get on it now!

The first field trip is scheduled for Sept 14 to the recycling depot. Info is on the website and email Miss Lisa directly to sign up for that (again, fingerprint clearance needed).

If you want to volunteer for any of the other open positions, let Miss Lisa know - ie: field trip coordinator, reading buddy, and special skills like art, music, or anything else you'd like to share with the kids to enrich their experience!

Carline Reminders from the school

Thank you all for your patience with carline. We have been able to shave off a few minutes each day this week, so keep the faith! Here are a few VERY IMPORTANT reminders:

  • Please DO NOT block the driveway at the home on the northeast corner of 28th Street and Campbell. The parents need to be able to get back into their driveway after picking up their children at their school.
  •  Please keep your carline name tag visible throughout the pickup process.
  • For elementary drop-off, please have your child only exit the car from the passenger’s side. It is very dangerous for children to get out on the driver’s side.
  • For elementary drop-off, please DO NOT let your child exit the car where the red curb is.
  • Please do not exit or enter via the staff parking lot on the elementary campus.
  • Primary parents, please remain in your car; staff will help your child disembark the car.

Important Dates

August 14 - Enrichment Sign up will be emailed at 9am. Be ready! It goes fast!!!

August 23 - Postinos Dine Out

September 4- Labor Day, school closed

September 15- Early release @ 11:30

September 22- Early release @ 11:30 for Goal Setting Conferences (circle and all-day contracts may stay)

September 26 & 27- Picture day

September 29- Early release @ 11:30 for Goal Setting Conferences (circle and all-day contracts may stay)

Whew. I think I covered it all. But feel free to check the website regularly. I will post new updates on the main page between emails.

Thanks all!

Erika

August 5, 2023

Hi to all the new and returning families!

I hope you all survived the heat this summer and are eager to get back to school. I'll be the classroom coordinator for Miss Lisa's class this year. My son, Sebastian, is a third year, and I have a daughter, Sydney, in Primary. I'll be sending out bi-weekly emails with updates from the classroom. I have a few things to cover to get us started this year.

Allergies:

Reminder that we have cashew and pistachio allergies in this classroom so avoid sending any snacks or lunches with those two nuts. Peanuts, almonds and other nuts are okay.

Contact List:

Every year we put together a contact list so you can contact each other. It will eventually be published (in a secure format requiring a password) on the class website and sent via email to everyone who wants to be included. Note: Even if you opt-out of this list, you'll still get my bi-weekly emails - this is just a contact list so you can contact each other.

If you'd like to be included in the contact list, you must reply to this email with your name, child's name, and email and/or phone number.

Class Website:

Speaking of the class website, the school just switched platforms this week and I haven't had a chance to build all the new pages. Until then, these emails will include all the info you need. The old Weebly site won't be updated anymore.

Walkers:

If you live within walking distance, don't forget you have to resubmit your walking application yearly. I've linked it here.

Volunteers:

If you want to volunteer, you can apply here. For off-campus and one-on-one chaperoning (field trips, reading buddies, and pizza supply shopping trips), you'll need a background check with fingerprint clearance. It takes a while to get going, so I recommend you get on that quickly if you want to participate in those activities.

Even if you did the application and fingerprint clearance last year, you'll need to resubmit the first four forms on that page each year. We will have various volunteering opportunities that will be announced later!

IMPORTANT DATES:
August 7- First day of school
August 9- E1 Parent Orientation @ 6:30 in Miss Lisa's class (adults only!)
August 12- PTO back to school popsicle social
September 4- Labor Day, school closed
September 15- Early release @ 11:30
September 22- Early release @ 11:30, circle and all-day contracts may stay
September 26 & 27- Picture day
September 29- Early release @ 11:30, circle and all-day contracts may stay

Also check out the E1 Welcome Back letter, (it will download a Word Doc to your computer), and the video from Margo O'Neill (here).

See you all on Wednesday!
